ACL looks at the most fundamental aspects of leadership through the lens of the functional approach to leadership development. It focuses on a combination of leadership principles which must be present in the leader themselves, and also what leaders actually do in their behaviour which gives them this vital component to successful management.

ACL views leadership as a vital component of good management as opposed to the now outdated view of separating management and leadership and the subsequent debates which have ensued.

ACL in its most fundamental form defines leadership as a generic role which is necessary for any group of people to maximise their performance. ACL gives the generic tools and skills acquisition for this to be done.

Objectives

• Have a clear understanding of the generic role of leader and where this fits within their responsibilities
• Be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to apply this within the organisation immediately, to drive performance
• Have a firm platform from which to develop and enhance their leadership capabilities for the future

Target Audience

The course is aimed at any delegate who is at an operational management or team leadership level within the organisation.

The programme will involve a significant number of leadership challenges, feedback and peer review. There will also be wide ranging discussion on issues directly related to the context of the actual work setting, in plenary and smaller groups.

It is a stimulating and robust learning experience for those who wish to really get to the source of what we would now call the ‘truth’ about leadership and their own potential to develop performance within the organisation.
