Our client is a leading Global Law firm with offices in over 30 countries. They are seeking a Human Resources Manager for their Singapore team. The role is very hands on and will need someone who can work in a fast paced environment, and work strategically with the HQ based in the US. Job details are as follows :-
- - You will develop and implement the strategy and action plans for the Singapore office in line with firm-
- wide/Asia goals and best practices and in support of the office’s business plans.
- - Lead, develop and motivate the HR Advisor.
- - Contribute to, and implement, global and regional HR policies and strategies as a member of the global HR
- function.
- - Facilitate the best possible management of people across the whole Singapore office
- - Work with partners across the office to review on an ongoing basis the structures, seniority profiles and
- resource levels of practice groups and business support service.
- - Monitor, identify and instigate action to source resourcing needs as required
- - Lead the office’s headcount planning processes
- - Ensure that internal approval requirements are followed for all recruitment activities
- - Coach and develop partners and associates/managers in recruitment techniques/skills – and monitor
- quality standards
- - Develop/maintain good relationships with headhunters and recruitment agents, as appropriate
- - Develop HR marketing approaches (e.g. recruitment campaigns) in conjunction with the marketing team,
- if appropriate
- - Ensure that all internal promotions result from fairly applied appropriate procedures
- - Manage the forward-looking partner pipeline to ensure that there is active discussion, proper planning and
- good developmental support to potential candidates
- - Manage key performance management and related annual processes, including annual evaluations, mid-
- year reviews, salary reviews, promotions and bonus-setting.
- - Ensure that annual evaluations and mid-year reviews are conducted, provide training, guidance and
- coaching to ensure that these are of the best possible standard
- - Ensure consistency of evaluation/salary/bonus approach and effective moderation across the office. Work
- alongside HR Director, HK & China who overseas these processes forAsia.
- - Work closely with partners and managers to identify areas of potential under-performance of individuals,
- with a view to seeking an improvement in individuals’ performances or alternative ways forward
- - Co-ordinate secondees’ terms of employment, ensuring consistency across the office
- - Liaise closely with Global Mobility for relocation arrangement of attorneys
- - Work with supervisors to ensure compliance with office policies and procedures
- - Provide leadership and professional advice on compensation and benefits
- - Review payroll reports to confirm accuracy and timeliness
- - Oversee benefits administration
- - Manage Singapore labor law compliance (including work permits), providing guidance and advice to the
- Office Executive Partner and COO,Asia, as necessary
- - Periodically review local employment rules and employment files and other HR documents for compliance
- - Develop and maintain a network of HR contacts in other professional services firms to provide an informal
- network of potential guidance
- - Work with partners and managers to provide guidance and support in the best possible management and
- development of their staff
- - Oversee employee relations activities such as the handling of employee problems, discipline and
- terminations, HR related announcements, etc.
- - Manage the office’s employment risks, advising partners and managers of their obligations (legal and
- policy-related)Coordinate orientation for joiners (entry package, office general information, etc.)
- - Provide a general HR advisory service, consulting with partners, senior associates and support managers
- regarding people issues and providing HR solutions and guidance
- - Oversee career development plans for legal staff in conjunction with partners and the People
- Development Director,Asia
- - Lead, motivate and develop the HR Advisor in the office and ensure effective communication on business
- and professional HR issues
- - Ensure HR data in the office is always up to date, complete and accurate
- - Provide timely and relevant reports on key HR information
- - Assisting with Global and Regional ad hoc projects eg Associate Career Development Framework,
- - Women’s Initiative activities, Commercial Awareness Programme, HR systems upgrade, Asiaemployee
- handbook
- - Develop compensation packages that enable us to attract and retain talent, whilst remaining cost-
- conscious
- - Review regularly market salaries to ensure appropriateness of the office’s salary levels
- - Develop and maintain a structured approach to salary reviews and bonus processes
- - Liaise with the global HR team to ensure compliance with global policies
