4. Occupational Health and Safety

The Industrial Safety and Health Act establishes a basic framework for government supervision of occupational health and safety. The Act requires most workplaces to establish an industrial safety and health committee, and to make regular reports to the government on progress towards reducing accidents and protecting employee health. The Act prescribes certain types of businesses which are exempt from its rules.
