Swipe right for lovelife benefits
Love is in the air at Philippines’ company Ideas Ex Machina (IXM), where members of staff are each afforded a “lovelife” benefits package.
The ad agency reimburses up to six dates a year for each of their staff (capped at around S$115), and subsidises their matchmaking attempts on dating sites and apps such as Tinder and eHarmony.
Staff whose dates go well can look forward to the company contributing to the cost of their wedding, up to almost S$12,000. But employees whose romantic forays lead into splitsville won’t be left behind; they can tap into “breakup leave” while recovering from heartbreak.
IXM founder and CEO Clemente Domingo III told Newsbytes Philippines that the unusual policy was intended to keep his employees happy and motivated.
“Basically, I urge people to go on dates with their boyfriend, girlfriend, wife and even the person they are courting. The rationale is to inspire the staff to develop their creativeness by inspiring and motivating them,” he said. “Based on studies, people who are inspired are more creative in their work.”
